The NYT and NPR reported two $2M book advances to Kennedy from Skyhorse Publishing — disclosed and signed off by an HHS ethics official September 17 — alongside a July social-media post promoting his 2021 book that critics contrasted with his 2024 ethics pledge. HHS says he complies with all ethics laws; the coverage was a reputational hit regardless.
