Vani Hari on European-style dye warning labels: recommends
Hari recommends that the U.S. require the same warning on products containing artificial dyes that the EU has used since 2010: “may have an adverse effect on activity and attention in children.” She made this recommendation in her 2026 Epoch Times interview and on her HHS-speech page at foodbabe.com.
Her stated reasoning is that the EU warning worked without an outright ban — companies reformulated their products voluntarily to avoid carrying the warning, which is why, she says, many U.S. products contain dyes that their European versions don’t. She argues a U.S. warning label would produce the same reformulation pressure here.
This recommendation sits at the intersection of her dye campaigns and her Better Food Disclosure Act advocacy: truthful labeling, in her view, is the mechanism that forces the industry to change.
