Robert F. Kennedy Jr. on nutrition education in medical schools: recommends

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has pushed medical schools to expand nutrition training for physicians, and per HHS — as described in the program for his May 7, 2026 City Club of Cleveland remarks — more than 50 medical schools voluntarily expanded nutrition education from roughly 4 hours to 40 or more hours.

Kennedy’s stated reasoning is that physicians receive almost no training in nutrition despite diet’s central role in chronic disease, and that better-trained doctors will prescribe food-based prevention. The push sits alongside his Dietary Guidelines overhaul and food-dye phaseout as part of the MAHA nutrition agenda.
