Robert F. Kennedy Jr. on health-care price transparency for patients: recommends

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. says: “Americans should know what their healthcare will cost before they receive it,” and that the October 5, 2026 Transparency in Coverage final rules deliver “clearer, more reliable information to compare costs,” per the HHS press release.

Kennedy’s stated reasoning is that opaque pricing harms patients and blocks competition, and that standardized insurer pricing data plus personalized cost estimates by phone will let consumers shop for care. The rules (CMS-9882-F) implement Executive Order 14221, standardizing insurer pricing files, eliminating “zombie rates,” and requiring a named senior official to attest to data accuracy.
