Mehmet Oz on scam products using his name: warns against

Dr. Mehmet Oz warns consumers against scam products that falsely claim his endorsement. In May 2013, he launched an “IT’S NOT ME” campaign telling viewers: “I am taking back my name and protecting my viewers from people I consider dangerous, who try to mislead you into buying products I don’t endorse,” according to IPWatchdog’s account.

Oz’s stated reasoning is that fraudsters trade on his credibility to sell products he has never endorsed. His OzWatch portal logged more than 11,000 complaints, with Oz identifying miracle-weight-loss marketing around green coffee extract, raspberry ketones, and garcinia cambogia as the largest organized fraudulent efforts abusing his name. (Note: critics, including Sen. Ron Wyden at Oz’s 2025 confirmation hearing, have also cited Oz’s own past on-air promotion of green coffee extract β€” a contested part of the same record.)
