Mark Hyman on the Hallmarks of Aging: recommends
In Young Forever (2023), Hyman organizes longevity around the biological “hallmarks of aging” — which he calls “longevity switches” — that he says food, lifestyle, and root-cause medicine can influence. The framework was also the theme of his keynote at the April 2026 Livelong Women’s Health Summit, where he presented a “Food as Medicine” protocol framed for the female metabolic system.
Hyman’s stated reasoning is that aging is driven by a set of underlying biological processes rather than by individual diseases, and that targeting those root mechanisms — through nutrition, lifestyle, and functional-medicine interventions — is a better longevity strategy than treating diseases one at a time. (These are Hyman’s claims, not independently verified findings; not this site’s medical advice.)
