Gabrielle Lyon
Physician and author (Forever Strong); the peptide boom's credentialed critic
Gabrielle Lyon, D.O. is a board-certified, Washington University fellowship-trained family physician, founder of the Institute of Muscle-Centric Medicine, and NYT bestselling author of Forever Strong. On her podcast she audits the peptide boom's evidence — and argues the FDA's 2026 compounding removals were policy, not safety science, while insisting access should not loosen without human trials.
Coverage status — October 2026: Lyon is not a MAHA figure and not an access campaigner. She is the in-network critic: a performance-medicine physician, sympathetic in principle to verified medicine, arguing from inside the same audience that the peptide boom is outrunning its evidence — and that the administration’s process, not just the gray market, deserves scrutiny.
Her audit, from her July 30, 2026 episode of The Dr. Gabrielle Lyon Show — “DON’T Inject What You Can’t Verify: Compounded Peptide Safety Explained” — is specific. BPC-157, she counts from the literature, has 544 papers but fewer than 30 human subjects across three uncontrolled pilot trials. And her criticism cuts at the FDA as well as the sellers: she states the agency’s April 2026 Category 2 removal of compounded peptides was “driven by policy pressure, not new safety data.” Her position, in her own framing, is pro-access for verified medicine and against loosening compounding standards without human trials.
Her standing in this world is credentialed and commercial in the ordinary ways of physician-authors: board-certified family physician, Washington University fellowship-trained, founder of the Institute of Muscle-Centric Medicine, NYT bestselling author of Forever Strong. No peptide shop, clinic peptide offer, or affiliate codes were found attached to her name — her critique is not selling a competing product.
Why tracked here: she is the strongest evidence-first counterweight inside the peptide conversation — a critic of the administration’s 2026 process who cannot be dismissed as an outsider to performance medicine, and whose numbers the access campaign has to answer.
